Olive, I took this from our hospital room the day you were born. It’s “film”. I’ll explain later.

When it finally came time to leave the hospital after you were born, we dressed you in your designated take-home outfit. Apparently we were leaving the hospital about a month too early for this outfit to work.
Your beautiful beanie, hand-knit by Jamie to match my red fisherman’s hat, fit you like Dumb Donald’s from Fat Albert.
And your cute little booties might have worked better if you were a baby bigfoot.
But of course you are not a bigfoot, Olive. You are a hobbit.

Dottie came by to see you at the hospital. The light was good. We saw Dottie again today. The light was good. Maybe the light just follows Dottie around.

You have a strong grip, Olive. You can use it to hold on to your iPhone 27s when you’re older.

Grandma Kathy came to visit and brought a bouquet of flowers. We placed them on the windowsill in a makeshift vase. When other visitors brought flowers, we placed them on the windowsill too, until it was full of flowers. We called this your welcome shelf.

Nathiya visited you at the hospital. She makes tasteful jewelry and great camera bags. She is very talented. And she still manages to sleep in. You should try to emulate her. Especially the “sleeping in” part.

It was rainy the day you were born. This was the view from the first room they put us in. We spent your first night there.
